Here at DyHard Productions, we can write songs in many genres from the ground up, composing musical structure, melodies, lyrical content and more, and then moving on to the recording, engineering and mixing of the song. However, we can also collaborate with you on your project, help with songwriting and work with any musical or lyrical ideas you already have.

Music and songwriting certainly come down to personal taste, so we work closely with all our clients and make sure they approve every step of the process while we’re in the composition and recording phase. Below you can read our detailed process, which guarantees that the client is satisfied with the song.

Clients want songs written for many different reasons. We have composed and produced 100s of songs for release by recording artists (including ghostwriting), TV, movies, commercials and corporate events, as well as one-off personal songs for special occasions such as weddings and birthdays. We’re proud of our 100% customer satisfaction.

Please contact us to discuss your project and for a custom quote.

“What is your process while composing, recording and mixing?”

Firstly, we’ll discuss exactly what you are looking to achieve with the song. What style you would like? Do you want male or female vocals? What is the purpose of the song? Do you have any musical, melodic or lyrical ideas already? This is done before we send you a custom quote, and makes sure we understand what you’re looking to achieve from the song, and how we can work on it.

Once we begin on the project we will produce a basic demo of our ideas. For example, with a rock or pop song, the demo can typically take the form of an intro, verse and chorus. It’s a very basic recording, recorded in our studio quickly as we’re composing ideas. The demo will usually use a drum loop, and only a few basically recorded instruments and vocals, but it enables you to hear the tempo, melodic ideas and direction of the song. Demos typically use ‘scratch lyrics’ – made-up words and phrases that convey the melody. Once we have approval from you we move on to producing a length full demo, still in the basic demo form, but you’re able to hear the song in its full length.

On approval of the full demo, we move on to the lyrical content. We’re able to do this as we have already demoed the melodic structure. We work with you to make sure the lyrics contain the subject and meaning you want, however, if you don’t have a preference either way we will write lyrics that we feel fit the mood and vibe of the song.

On approval of the lyrics, we start the recording. We record and engineer every song in our studio, and we’re hands-on during the whole process. After the recording is complete we will send you the first mix. We then discuss with you any changes you might want to the mix. Once you approve the final mix we can master it and send it to you in a high-quality WAV format.

“Can you write a song in any style?”

We have written 100s of songs in many styles, and have achieved success in various genres including rock, country, heavy metal, pop, jazz, blues, funk, soul, synthwave, retrowave, chillwave, reggae, singer-songwriter, folk and world music. Please message us to discuss your project and we will always give you an honest answer to what we can achieve in your desired genre.

“I already have lyrics or a poem, can you put these to music?”

Yes, this is quite a common request and we have worked with clients lyrics or poems and put them to music. We can work with a lyrical idea no matter how big or small.

“I already have some musical ideas, can you work with these?”

Again, this is a common request and we have written many songs in this way. Sometimes a client has a chorus, but no verse, or a melodic idea that needs chords and a structure. We are able to work with your musical ideas no matter what stage they are at.

“I don’t require a full song, but just a demo that I will take away and record myself. Can you do that?”

Yes! We are also able to write and record simple demos for artists who then take the song to their studio or producer and flesh it out from there.

“I have a full song, but it needs pre-production before I record – Can you do this?”

Yes! pre-production can take many forms, from us offering up arrangements ideas to musical and melodic contributions.

“Do I have to credit you for your work?”

For much for our work, we offer a ‘buy out’ – meaning we provide our service as ‘work for hire’ and you retain all commercial rights and copyright. In that scenario, you don’t have to credit us, and this has been the case with projects where we have been ghostwriters, however, you can also credit us if you wish and still retain all the commercial rights and copyright.

“Can I hear examples of your work?”

Yes, please check out our songwriting portfolio HERE.

The songs contained are just a selection of our work, and we have also broken down the tracks into playlists to make it easier to find what you are looking for. Each song has some written detail regarding how we contributed to the track, from full songwriting and composition to top-line writing or mixing.

We also have a comprehensive Behance Portfolio with more details on some of our favourite projects.

“What is the payment process & what files do you deliver?”

We accept payment via PayPal, and all prices are in USD. We request a 50% deposit before starting the composition, and 50% after your approval of the final mix. The mixes are sent to you in mp3 format, with a DyHard Productions audio watermark. Once the final mix is approved and the balance is paid we send you the full quality mix in a WAV file.

“How many revisions do I get?”

This can be discussed before we start the process, but typically a song would have 3 revisions on the mix. As we’ve mentioned above, we always demo the song first and there are no revision limits on that process. Therefore, we can guarantee that you like the song and its direction before we start the final recording process.

“What is your songwriting timescale?”

Again, this can be discussed beforehand, and we are able to write and record very fast if it’s required. A typical song would take approximately 2 to 3 weeks from demo stage to final recording, but after discussing your project with you we can give you a clearer time frame depending on the writing and production involved.
